What is the mission of the Pride Alliance?
North Idaho Pride Alliance is an organization of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning and Allied (LGBTQA+) people and community groups working together to create a unified north Idaho.
We accomplish this through:
Networking – Building intentional relationships in the community.
Educating – Informing the community about LGBT issues and the lived experience of LGBT people and their allies.
Advocating – Creating a cross movement culture for advancing LGBT equality.
What does the Pride Alliance do?
The Pride Alliance creates strong connections and alliances through collaboration between community organizations, by providing community education and outreach and through the creation of programs that respond to the needs of the LGBTQ+ community (Pride Youth Alliance, North Idaho Gender Alliance and the Silver Pride Alliance). The Pride Alliance organizes events throughout the year, including these annual events: QPROM (May), Unity in the Community Dinner (September), and Pride in the Park (June).
Who are the Pride Community Builders?
The Pride Community Builders team represents the Alliance’s diverse community and a wide range of interests groups. Pride Community Builders assist the Board of Directors with identifying community needs and creating a strategic plan to meet those needs. In addition, Pride Community Builders are volunteers who work to strengthen the LGBTQ+ and Ally community through the creation of events and programs.
Who is part of the Pride Alliance?
Pride Alliance partners include LGBTQ and Allied community members, organizational representatives and business owners. All who support the Pride Alliance mission are welcome to be a Pride Alliance partner.
What are the programs the North Idaho Pride Alliance?
The Pride Youth Alliance is a youth empowerment group for LGBTQA+ that encourages positive self-development and self-expression, as well as leadership. We are dedicated to celebrating the authenticity, dignity and courage of all young people. Activities of the Pride Youth Alliance fit into four major categories: 1) social activities and community engagement; 2) leadership training and opportunities; 3) community outreach and advocacy; 4) youth-led discussions and workshops.
The Silver Pride Alliance exists to help is to create a better quality of life for LGBTQ+ older adults and their allies by building partnerships with senior service providers and providing intergenerational social and mentoring opportunities. The Silver Pride Alliance provides opportunities to develop friendships, continue to learn new skills, continuing to learn new information and continue to be productive members of our community.
The North Idaho Gender Alliance (Gender Alliance) serves people on the gender spectrum, their friends and families by fostering and facilitating resources information in a supportive and safe environment. In addition to resource sharing, we offer social activities and gender education to organizations, community groups, schools and businesses.
Can I donate money? What if I don’t have extra money to donate?
Absolutely, we rely heavily on community donations. Those donations are in the form of money, time and talent. When you make a contribution to the Pride Alliance you are investing in strengthening our community so everyone has the opportunity to thrive and live an authentic life.
