About the event
Join us for a special "Inclusion in Faith Panel Discussion and Short Documentaries" night at the Human Rights Education Institute, where we will start a conversation on the topic of faith, inclusion, and kindness.
Some faith traditions have made progress towards the inclusion of LGBTQ+ people and are working to heal the wounds of rejection and shame. Other faith traditions may still have walls up preventing the love and acceptance of LGBTQ+ members. Some conservative, religious households struggle when children come out, torn between supportive acceptance and identifying with church doctrine or rhetoric.
At our panel discussion, we will hear multiple perspectives on faith, the LGBTQ+ community, and kindness. We will interweave short documentaries and TedTalks that can shed light on these complex issues. Our goal is to facilitate understanding and provide a welcoming space to listen, speak and learn.
We’ll have resource tables available where attendees can take home literature and learn about organizations and recommended reading. Light refreshments and connecting opportunities will be available.
