The North Idaho Pride Alliance stands for truth and justice, and we stand with Mona. We hope and trust that the legal process will reinforce those values as the defamation lawsuit filed by Eric Posey, who goes by the drag name Mona, unfolds. We believe this lawsuit will bring accountability to those responsible for the disinformation campaign against one of our entertainers during the June 11th Pride in the Park event. We also hope that getting all the facts on the table will rectify the impact of these bigoted lies on the LGBTQIA+ community statewide. Eric has endured public harassment, hatred, contempt, and ridicule at the expense of his reputation and emotional well-being. We know that Eric’s situation is one of many instances in which our community has been divided by bigotry, lies, and manipulation, and we applaud his courage in stepping forward to make a difference. We want Eric to get the justice he deserves, and hope that this situation never happens again to a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.

We must all do our part to counter the rampant disinformation campaigns plaguing our community, and to hold accountable those who spread lies to stoke fear and hatred amongst their audience.
